This new school year 2015 has once again brought its share of innovation. Indeed, we took advantage of the Summer to redesign the graphic layout of our Outlook add-in KMailAssistant.
The significant changes are the following:
Now, KMailAssistant’s windows adopts the ‘METRO’ look. The so-called ‘METRO style’ of application design was introduced by Microsoft for its applications starting with the release of Windows 8. Since its 2013 version, the Office suite has itself also featured this type of interface. The characteristics of this new graphic design are, for example, the common use of the Segoe UI Light font and rectangular buttons (and icons), window banners no longer round and gray, but instead rectangular and of the same color as the content, etc. It seemed to us essential that our products also followed this graphic design. KMailAssistant’s windows are have thus been developed in accordance with the graphic guidelines of the ‘METRO style’.
In the main administration window, the tabs are now “raised” rather than moved to your left. This allows the user to better navigate the menus and allows more content to be displayed on the window.
- The whole application uses new icons for the action buttons. We have revised those buttons and in most cases the text has been replaced by a symbol.
- Concerning the allocation functions, the traffic light in the action area has been replaced by horizontal icons, to better represent the process of following up on an email.
- A quick view panel is now available, so that the emails that you have allocated, as well as those that still require your attention, may be seen at a glance.
We hope these improvements will make using our product even more intuitive. Do not hesitate to share your feedback with us.
